I. Introduction The Cappadocian miracle worker Apollonius of Tyana is unknown to the ordinary reader of the Bible, and most pastors may have forgotten that they ever read anything about him. (1) In this study, Apollonius, who already figured in the early church in theological discussions between Christians and Gentiles, (2) is considered in regard to his stature within the discipline of exegesis in our century.
